At one of the pre-demonstration media preparation events, activists debated whether C-Span would give adequate coverage of the demonstrations. While mainstream media coverage was, on the whole, very poor and prejudicial, C-Span gave extensive coverage to the demonstrators and to their spokespeople. They deserve some praise

On Monday, April 17th, 2000 at about 8:30 am near the corner of 18th and K I was beaten by a plainclothes officer after photographing him going crazy down a sidewalk hitting demonstrators exiting the area and beating them down with his baton. At the time I didn't even think it was a cop! I thought he was angry motorist! The footage has escaped and can be found at http://dc2.indymedia.org/display.php3?article_id=1426. I was treated and release from GW Hospital with 7 stitches closing a head wound and a concussion.

About 250 students walkout of class at Humboldt State University to attend a IMF/ WB teach-in. After two hours of rain, we marched with over 300 1 mile into town, handing flowers to onlookers and explaining why we were marching. We ended on the town square with poetry music and talks on local logging issues.
